I remember when it was summer in 2008 when I got my first silk cami. Back then it wasn’t in trend, let alone appropriate to wear beyond the bedroom! I recall my dear mum giving me a look of horror before I could step out of the house dressed in a lace green cami paired with my blue wash jeans. ( No I did not make it out of the house).
To my delight, Pajama dressing has been an enduring high fashion trend this year with little sign of waning! Why did this comfy trend take so long to catch on? From robes to matching sets to silky separates, there’s a way to try out the pajama trend to fit your style. One of my favorite pieces of this trend is the lace silk cami. It’s femininity, oozes sophistication, and feels luxuriously soft.
Slinky Slip dresses have also been another favourite, but I found myself craving something a bit more versatile and casual, like a lace cami. Not only does it extend the life of your warm-weather spaghetti straps, it also can be styled easily in multiple ways and makes a great layering piece for fall! I got this silk cami last year from a Zara sale! Love the color rich green color and soft luxe feeling. Worn bare is my favourite way of wearing it, because I can feel the softness of the silk against my skin.
When styled well you can easily look chic without looking like you stepped out in Pjs. To help you avoid looking like the latter, I’m sharing some of my tips on 3 Fresh ways to wear a cami.
Paired with High waisted jeans the look instantly becomes effortlessly chic. Pair with heels and geometric statment jewellery for a dressed up day look. For a laid back summer look, wear flats and a summer hat.
Camis look very sexy when worn on its own, but if you’re thinking about wearing it to the office, adding layers can keep you looking polished and put together. A blazer would instantly make your cami office appropriate. Dress pants go great with a slinky cami and a bold pair of pumps. Culottes work super well with camis in the warmer months. Try wide leg pants too.
Tuck your camisole into a ladylike skirt for an outfit that’s a mix of modern and sexy. Embrace the lingerie and pyjama dressing by wearing it with a robe-style jacket and jeans for an of-the-moment outfit. Pair with sleek leather pants and a statement clutch.
Whatever Cami you choose, make sure that it looks expensive – Saying that Silk is a must because it adds that luxe element that you want when wearing Pjs or a Cami in the day that keeps you from looking tacky.
A girl can never have too may silk camis this season!
