It can be a bit of challenge to dress glamorously in Taipei. Asia’s most laid back city comes with a laid back attitude towards dressing. Unlike London, it’s common to see fine diners dressed very casually or weddings guests dressed as if they were going to take a stroll along the park. People just don’t really dress up here.
This was a bit of a culture shock for me during my first year of living in Taiwan. I would always turn up to events and be so overdressed even if I was just wearing a simple dress at a bar. I must admit spending a couple of years abroad has relaxed my style from dressy wearing blazers and non stop heels to Sunday casual and comfy flats. I’m slowly getting back to my old style and of course style influences oscillated from Taipei’s mixed and very experimental fashion scene will likely remain. I’ve grown more confidence in dressing up with a casual mix and not feel so out of place. It’s about time that I revive some much needed glam into my outfits. As seen I’m wearing green sequin. It’s the glitzy fabric that I pull out during the colder months as it gets me super excited for the festivities. To give the uber glam pencil skirt more of a casual tone, I’ve paired it with a collared sweater and dark red boots.

So where do I wear this slightly glamorous outfit? Let me know what you think. 🙂
