Easy Ways to Plan a Holiday

The Summer is nearly here, hooray! And that means it’s time to book that long awaited holiday if you haven’t already.

One bit of advice is to always try and book in advance as soon as you possibly can – even a year in advance!

Understandably not everyone can do that. Sometimes we’re just too busy and can’t plan that far ahead. But just so you know for next time, you can save an awful lot of money doing it this way so always bear this mind.

If you haven’t been able to do that though, then you may be feeling a bit stressed because you’re trying to book your holiday in so little time.

Here’s what  to do.

Location

Planning a vacation is a lot easier said than done and one of the biggest challenges is picking the destination.  It’s really obvious, but first you need to pick where you want to go. With so many options out there, you’re spoiled for choice!

Love the heat, the beach, the golden sand, and the sapphire sea? Or would you prefer a cooler destination with snow, hot chocolate, skiing, and dog sledging? Or maybe camping out in the woods, stripping things back, and roasting s’mores around a fire is more your thing. If you’re still not sure, go and get some ideas on Google!

Flights
You will find that a lot of flights come with deals, so make sure that you keep your eyes open as to what is being offered to you. If all you need is a flight from A to B, then you can opt out from all other things, but if you know that you will need to get some transport once you have arrived at the airport, then you can book this with the flights. Why not rent your own vehicle so that you don’t need to rely on any kind of public transport.

Accommodation
Looking for accommodation can be as difficult or as easy as you make it, and that all boils down to where you shop. Some people wait until last minute once they’ve arrived at their destination, but this is a very risky game to play so it’s better to plan it all before. Sites like Interhome show you all of the best places, along with their star rating and tons of images. So you can look around for the perfect villa to stay in. Do you want to be situated right on the edge of the ocean, or be closer to all the nightlife and entertainment?

Packing
Packing or figuring out what to wear at the airport is something that you either love or hate to do. Depending on how long you plan to be away for will determine all the things that you will need to bring with you. Remember that toiletries like shower gel, shampoo, and toothpaste doesn’t need to be brought with you so that you can save space in your bag. Hotels will supply each room with these things for free, and if you do end up running out – simply let them know and they will replace them for you.

Collect and Cull

There is no way you can see everything on a single trip. Make a list and group the places as well as labelling which sights are actually worth seeing. Mark any sights that are closed on a specific day of the week or for a holiday during your trip. Holidays can mean all kinds of closures both for sights and transport. Holidays and festivals could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your desires. Sometimes a festival you don’t care about is going to make a place just more crowded and expensive, but a cool little local thing can turn into a trip highlight.

Are you thinking of going anywhere soon? I’m thinking of traveling to Southeast Asia.

Thank you for reading and have a lovely week!
