Oh, the world is a big place. It’s filled with wonder and excitement, is there nothing better than dreaming about places you want to visit? I’m having morning tea just in front of my beach hut and naturally, I’m feeling relaxed, and seriously calm. Sitting here, I can’t believe I’m here in Sri Lanka! While most I know tend to travel to the Philippines and Japan, which is great, but I try to look for something different. I’ve been dreaming of going to this hidden gem ever since my trip to the Maldives where I happened to meet some friendly Sri Lankans. It’s the way they described their country that sold me: a majestic past, lovely tea and warm smiles, golden beaches, rising waves, misty mountains, full of culture, breathtaking scenery, and fascinating wildlife.
It’s the people you meet along the way To me, Sri Lanka is more than just a destination on my bucket list, but the people of that destination. It’s only day two, and already I’ve noticed the contagious smiles beam out in all directions. The locals are so open and inviting, and the food is really amaaaaazing! While we are often changed by what surrounds us, we are more often shaped by those we meet along the way. Travelling brings great opportunities, but the greatest is getting to experience new cultures through the people met during the journey.
In the next few days after tiring from the beach, I’m off to explore the cultural side of Sri Lanka. I can’t wait to share more of my adventures in Sri Lanka with you all! What’s on your bucket list? I’d love to know!
