Ethnic Chic

Ever since my Burma trip early this year, I just cannot stop daydreaming about  taking all the ethnic jewellery I saw in the night markets.  For me Ethnic-tribal fashion is a highly personal way of dressing: it gives my style a personal unique touch. Think tassels, fringing bags, beading, feathers and kaleidoscopic designs of tribal culture. Ethnic-tribal fashion is one that will be very difficult to get tired of. I am always open to taking inspiration from different cultures, mixing two or more styles from different cultures which results in a unique look. I really love the concept of mixed  and multicultural fashion because it promotes a unity of ethnic backgrounds and tolerance for other cultures.  I think by wearing multicultural fashion, it  shows acceptance and respect for other backgrounds, but it also shows our ability to have fun and be creative with fashion.  Whether it’s Asian combined with South American or African and European, Ethnic fashion could inspire you to look for inspiration outside of your own culture. In this post I’d like to share with you how I incorporate the Ethnic look into my style without looking as if I belong to a tribe! I’m wearing a gold, silver patterned top teamed with stripe shorts and accessorized with a silver  Ethnic statement necklace. The second outfit is a bit more on the casual side. I’m pictured wearing a plain white vest paired with high waisted jeans, a statement striped shawl and a colorful beaded tribal style necklace. Wearing tribal prints can be a bit overpowering but there are many ways to carry it off.

How to wear

ACCESSORIZE:Team a chunky statement necklace with an understated outfit or opt for a colourful beaded/embellished accessories to add a pop of colour.
GO ALL OUT: We’re talking faux fur gilet, tasselled accessories and a bold print skirt or trousers.
THINK BOLD, BIG AND PRINT: Try statement leggings and a chunky knit, or wear an oversized coatigan over more low key staples.
