I love play suits. Even though I don’t frequently wear them , I’ve always like how elegant they look and how this one piece can make a complete outfit. As a dress, it’s one and done. They’re incredibly easy to wear, and require very little maintenance. By that I mean, you can literally wear a play suit and no other clothes and be set. I know I’m not alone when wondering how to wear a play suit. They can be a little intimidating and if not worn well it can look sloppy or make you look shorter or wider than you are. There’s a reason you mainly see white or black play suits. It’s the easiest to wear, and you don’t run the worry of looking silly in a crazy printed Play suit. 6 STYLE TIPS ON WEARING A PLAY SUIT
1 FIND THE PERFECT FIT
The play suit should fit your body perfectly which is key to looking polished and put together. Don’t wear anything too loose or tight.
Wearing a Play suit that’s too tight might give off that catwomen vibe. Wearing a loose play suit will make your silhouette disappear!
The play suit I’m wearing in this outfit post is a strappy cold shoulder ruffled one, cinched at the waist with a slight wide leg. It’s not too big or too small, and I’m able to show off my figure by showing the right amount of skin with the bare shoulder design.
2 DEFINE YOUR WAIST
Make that waist stand out. Play suits with either a cloth belt or adding your own belt can help define your waist. Cinching your play suit at the waist is a great way to inject some femininity to the look and give you a curvaceous look.
3 PAIR IT WITH A BLAZER
Play suits can stand alone, but you can easily add a blazer to give it your personality.
It breaks up the look and adds a layer to make the jumpsuit more subtle.
4 WEAR HEELS
Wearing heels will elongate your body and give off the the illusion that you’re super tall.
If I were to wear this Play suit with flats, the bottom half would look pretty sloppy. It would look like I’m wearing a jumpsuit that doesn’t fit, and I would look shorter.
5 WEAR A SOLID PLAY PLAY SUIT
If you’re new to Play suits you can ease into it and wear a solid black or white jumpsuit. If you’re bold, wear a colored solid, like navy, blush, red, or olive green.
But Black is always a slimming choice!
A solid Play suit is elongating since it’s one unbroken vertical line the eye moves easily up and down without interruption.
Once you feel comfortable in a black or white jumpsuit experiment by adding some pattern or splashes of color.
6 KEEP IT SIMPLE
Stick to a few accessories as the play suit is already a statement piece! I’m wearing yellow fringe earrings to add a pop of color to my look and nude pumps.
